Toddler Teaches Mom
"I have been very grateful for the Virtues Strategies in my parenting. My precious 2 year old daughter, Esther Julia, "gets it" already. One day after coming in from outside, she threw her hat on the floor. I kept repeating "please pick up your hat and put it away." She pointedly ignored me, looking everywhere but at me, dancing her way around the kitchen and waiting for me to clue in. When I finally got it and said "I need you to use your helpfulness and put your hat away" she immediately ran over, picked up her hat and put in on the shelf with a big smile. (I may have asked for orderliness rather than helpfulness, I can't remember now. But, I think more important is asking her to call on a virtue of her own vs. going into the reflexive "mother command tone." ) She teaches me daily!"
