Beauty
"A thing of beauty is a joy forever." John Keats
This morning, as I was getting ready to plunge into my busy workday, ready to boot up my computer for several projects, I realized I needed to slow down to "smell the roses." At this time of year in the Pacific Northwest, roses aren't in bloom. But I knew that a beautiful piece of music would restore me, feed me, allow me to breathe in its beauty. So I sat down and put on the CD, closed my eyes, rested my body, and allowed the beauty of the music to fill me up, to listen so fully that I could pick out each piece of the harmony, bask in its beauty, and become whole again. What is it about beautiful music that can help us remember who we truly are?
Questions for reflection:
What music brings beauty to my spirit?
What do I see right now that has beauty?
How does beauty feed me?
How will I make more time to notice and enjoy the beauty around me?
