A Virtues Moment: COURTESY
"Courtesy is treating others with kindness and tact. We take the time to speak and act graciously, showing people that we value and respect them. We make requests, not demands. We remember our manners, greet others warmly, and listen closely when others speak. Courtesy is a way to honor others, showing them how much they mean to us by how we treat them. Those closest to us need our courtesy most of all. Courtesy is the mirror of their value."

Questions for reflection:
- How can I treat others with utmost courtesy this holiday season?
- How do I speak with my family members courteously?
- How can I speak courteously, even when I am frustrated or angry?
- How do I model courtesy with the children and teenagers in my life?
It is said that Courtesy is the Prince of Virtues. When I think of courtesy, I think of my stepfather, Steve. Steve was an old-fashioned gentleman, who always spoke and acted with courtesy. He opened doors for women; he treated each person he met with utmost courtesy and respect. Steve never gossiped or said a negative word about anyone. He was cheerful even in difficult circumstances. Steve was an example for me of how I want to treat everyone, with kind words and respect. Steve was a Prince of Courtesy.
